Rachel continues to be an inspiration.
Though the obstacles and difficulties are tremendous and many, she is determined.
This morning (Monday October 9th) she was resisting against the attempt to transfer her from her bed to her chair. (The procedure, prior to today, involves a technique by which she is moved while supported and no work is done on her part.)
It was quickly apparent she was insisting on doing some of the work, so rather than being lifted, we helped her to a standing position, she then pivoted while shuffling her feet, and slowly sat into her chair!!
A second example of her persistence was refusing to take a rest break between her 2nd & 3rd lap around the “nurses hub” in the ARJO walker. (This apparatus combined with a 4 person therapist crew provides Rachel the weight bearing support she needs to walk.)
Four weeks of perseverance!!
“Obstacles & difficulties”…
Also, the issues with her the mouth and swallowing means she is not quite ready to have her trache removed. There have been steady improvements but she isn’t quite ready to be decannulated.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done.”
Phillipians 4:6
Thank you for your partnership in faith & prayer and for the outpouring of love to us…
Blessings,
Jeremy
