"Amazing!"

We have heard that word exclaimed numerous times over the last week. It’s been the favorite expression used to describe Rachel’s achievements in physical & occupational therapy, and as a response to her consistent hard work in speech therapy.
The team of doctor’s, nurses, CNA’s and therapists and others involved in Rachel’s rehabilitation have all agreed…”it’s amazing when I/we think back to when she arrived, 5 weeks ago.”
Today’s PT session was monumental.
Rachel took 12 steps between the parallel bars. Just one therapist in front of her knees as a precaution and one to her side helping her position move her arms and positioning her hands in the bars, while she did all the weight bearing, shifting and stepping….12 steps.
Tonight, she will sleep with her “trache cap” on for the first time (which is the final trial before having it removed.
She waves her right when someone says “hi” or “bye” and when our daughter leaned over to kiss her forehead on Saturday evening, Momma picked her own head off of the bed to kiss her cheek!
Please continue to pray for Rachel’s eyes, her cheek muscles, her mouth/lips, improvement in swallowing and vocalizing. (She is undergoing ten days of electro-stimulation therapy specifically aimed at improving these areas).
Thank you for all the encouragements, gifts and prayers. Our family feels all of your love and support.
This journey is still nearer the beginning than the end, however, let’s all consider how far we have come. Only 5 weeks ago, Rachel could only wiggle her toes.
“We stand Amazed”, with great Hope!
Blessings,
Jeremy
“Oh Lord, my God
When I, in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art”
